NEWARK, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of the United Way of Greater Newark. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.
After-School All-Stars New Jersey, Boys and Girls Club Newark, and United Way of Greater Newark’s Newark Thrives! will host the Summer Employment Expo (SEE) on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club Newark (1 Avon Ave., Newark NJ 07108).
The goal of this one-of-a-kind event is to pair potential employees with over 15 Youth Serving Organizations currently hiring for Summer Programs. In addition to having the opportunity to participate in on-site interviews and hiring, attendees can also learn about the different programs and services available from Youth Serving Organizations in Newark.
This event is an excellent opportunity for job seekers in the area to connect with local employers and find new employment opportunities. Interested applicants are encouraged to bring a copy of their resume to the event.
“Out-of-school-time programs are the bedrock of supporting students’ academic and enrichment learning,” United Way of Greater Newark President & CEO Catherine Wilson said. “Summer programs, especially, are crucial in keeping youth in our communities engaged when school is on summer recess. Saturday’s Summer Employment Expo is a great opportunity to ensure that our local summer programs are adequately staffed to best prepare youth for the 2023-24 school year.”
Children of all job seekers are welcome to attend.
Free enrichment activities will be provided for children aged five and up, ensuring they can enjoy the event. Light refreshments will be provided, and there is no need to register beforehand. Attendees can take advantage of free parking on-site.
Spots are still available for Youth Serving Organizations seeking employees for Summer Programming and beyond. Programs can register to participate at https://shorturl.at/anBI1.
This event is an exciting chance to explore new opportunities, network with local organizations and businesses, and learn about the services and programs available in the community.
