United Way of Greater Newark Opens Up Grants to Combat Summer Learning Loss for City’s Youth

NEWARK, NJ — Local nonprofit United Way of Greater Newark is opening up grant opportunities for program providers to address summer learning loss.

The grant program coincides with the relaunch of the “Newark Thrives!” campaign, an Out-of-School Time (OST) network in Newark, which will open the first Accelerating Summer Learning Opportunities grants to providers within the network.

The relaunch campaign will focus on combating academic and summer learning loss by investing in accelerated summer learning opportunities for youth and implementing a quality improvement system. This effort will include access to assessments/evaluations, capacity-building initiatives and professional development for youth program providers.
