Good health is one of the building blocks for a better life, but only 1 in 3 Americans is living a healthy lifestyle. Whether someone struggles with mental illness or is burdened caring for a sick relative, our initiatives aim to improve the lives of children, adults and seniors. Achieving good health requires us all to become more aware of health risks and the potential effects they have early in life.

Our chapter of United Way is working to extend access to health care and wellness services that will enable more people to live healthier lives.

The Community Health Worker initiative raises awareness around the importance of health education and screenings that will assist with preventing many health conditions that plague individuals in the UWEWH footprint and surrounding areas. Through this initiative, the health worker conducts interactive health literacy workshops within the community. This initiative also provides assistance with guidance, resource and enrollment in the healthcare market exchange. This initiative is funded by The Horizon Foundation of New Jersey.

For more information or if you’re interested in having our Community Health team come out to facilitate a workshop with your clients or community group, please reach call 973-854-2262 or email
